New Avicii Track Premiered On Pete Tong’s Podcast
Pete Tong began his latest episode of Essential Selections by debuting the Avicii track “You Make Me” off his new album True, available September 17th.
The song starts off with a pounding piano line before Salem Al Fakir’s voice comes in to tell listeners, “We are one, one for sure, all united, don’t want some more.”
Then it leads to a callipoe-esque breakdown. “All my life, I’ve been, I’ve been waiting for someone like you“. What? Who uses sounds like those? Avicii featured the majority of True during his set at the Ultra Music Festival in March earlier this year to many mixed reviews, but I’m beyond excited with the new direction Tim has been taking his productions. Incorporating elements of country, folk and bluegrass into dance music is a risky move that not everyone is going to like, but it’s a marked divergence from the progressive/electro sound that’s been flooding this genre and showcases his evolution as a producer. Did I mention there’s a kazoo chorus on one of the songs?
Give “You Make Me” a listen.
