Funky Fat Releases ‘Jealousy’ On Hot Creations
Brazilian group Funky Fat has released a great deep house EP under the title “Jealousy”. The release consists of 4 versions of the namesake track, as well as one extra original from Funky Fat titled “Time”.
Jealousy, as an original mix, is bright and energetic with chordal stabs and a steady drum beat that drives the song forward. The vocals overtop are nice, but I really like the guitar part. Specifically, the guitar’s tone as well as the effect of using a loose-handed picking method. The addition of the percussive nature of the picking has a great effect on the track. Next, Jamie Jones takes a turn at “Jealousy” and lowers the register a bit into a bass-heavy, groovy, late-night track. The use of percussion in this version is superb and I really like the varied instruments. The track is fresh, carries energy, and makes good use of a good speaker system. Severino takes the track in another entirely different direction with lots of different layers of melodic instruments. It seems a bit spacier, and carries a lot more energy. The breakdown is a really well done section as it contrasts the more hectic verses with a nice simplistic feel. Finally, Hanfry Martinez takes the track and turns it into down and dirty deep techno. The bass line pumps through your speakers with huge amounts of force and the track, while simplistic, grooves very hard.
Finally, “Time” finishes off the release as a fun, and funky track with some interesting uses of synths. “Jealousy” is a great release with some very good tracks on it. If you’re in the mood for a good listen or for a great example of how one song can be imagined in so many different ways by other people, grab this release.
