Louie Fresco’s ‘Autophobia’ Out On No.19 Music
Mexican producer Louie Fresco comes through with a very avant-garde album in his ‘Autophobia’. Producing with the likes of Luna, Art Department, and Eric Volta, I would say this release should be experienced more as an electronica easy-listening, than dance-tastic party time. The album’s namesake, Autophobia, is a dark, crawling piece of electronica with a low bass line and a futuristic sound unique to this release. From there, each track takes on a bit of a deep house persona as the tempo speeds up and a solid beat is put in place, however each track still stays out there in terms of samples, and the instruments utilized.
My Ghost has a pumping bass line that’ll make your speakers rumble, as well as some really nice ambient chords in the background. From there, the Art Department Black Sky Remix picks up the energy and adds a bit more liveliness to the percussion as well as a few more layers. It’s still spacey, and still has that unique sound, but what I like most is the variation in drum beat during the break and the rhythmic combinations used with the instruments there. Finally, the Eric Volta Knows Your DJ’s Shadow Mix is possibly the best track of the release for it’s absolutely beautiful use of the piano. The melodic styling behind the beat and sampled vocals are superb, as well as the chords under the break. It’s jazzy, modern, and really freaking great. Give this release a listen.
For some reason I couldn’t find it on soundcloud, but give it a listen on Beatport.
