Sante & Sidney Charles ‘Blow EP’ Out On Sci+Tec
Out now on Dubfire’s label, Sci+Tec, is a new tech house/techno EP by Sante and Sidney Charles, out of Germany. The first track, Blow, is oddly simplistic. With a drum beat reminiscent of those tracks from the 80s or 90s, Blow sits on a plateau of cool that never really fluctuates. Throw in some distorted vocals to add a bit of tension and variety, and you pretty much have the whole track in a nutshell. However, what I would like to know is how the track sounds through club speakers. While blasting it through my subwoofer (as everyone should do), there is a distinct rumble of bass underneath the drum beat that I don’t believe my speakers can express fully. If my theory is right, this is where the meat of the track really is. If anyone manages to hear it live, let me know!
Butt Head, the second track, is straight-up intense techno. The kick drum makes your house rumble with how deep it registers, and the overall feel makes you picture a dark club at 2 am somewhere in Germany. Butt Head is also minimalistic, focusing more on musical space and various stabs of sound. It’s the kind of track that would put you in a trance, especially after 4 or 5 Red Bull Vodkas. Check it out!
