Things To Expect From Skrillex In 2013
A few years ago, Sonny Moore, now a household name known as “Skrillex,” quickly took over the music scene earning the reputation as one of the top producer/DJs ever. After selling out shows all over the world, gaining millions of fans, producing a ton of top songs and winning six Grammys, it appears as if the legend himself has zero intensions of slowing down. This year especially, Skrillex has not stopped dominating. Whether it be with his performances, the music he makes, or his new endeavors, he keeps on doing new and innovative things that continue to surprise fans everywhere.
Starting the year 2013 off with a bang, he released an EP titled, “Leaving,” which was not only an extremely impressive EP, but he also gave it away for free! A few days after that, THE DANCE REBELS crew got to witness an unforgettable surprise appearance he did while on Holy Ship!! A month later, Skrillex attended The 55th Annual Grammy Awards where he swooped up three new Grammys, making his Grammy award total six! But, it doesn’t stop there…Shortly after the Grammys, Skrillex teamed up with A-Trak and Diplo to create “Potato Will Eat You.” Potato Will Eat You is a YouTube channel dedicated to all things dance music. The channel has only been around for three weeks and already it has almost 2 million video views, and it has featured exclusive videos from big names such as Dillon Francis and Moby.
Skrillex has recently taken a more unique and different approach when it comes to his music and marketing himself. Last month, he created and debuted an unreleased song of his, “Puppy,” exclusively in a G-Star Raw commercial.
Sonny has accomplished more in two months then most artists do in a year! And now he is teaming up with Cliff Martinez, a film score composer, to create the soundtrack for the upcoming movie, “Spring Breakers.” Skrillex has production credits on nine of the nineteen tracks, which is huge! You can listen to the promo of the tracks for “Spring Breakers” here.
Skrillex also recently sat down with Billboard Magazine and revealed some of his plans for the upcoming year. After reading the article, which you can read here, we’re happy to say that there definitely is more to come from him! When discussing upcoming remixes and collaborations, he says that he’s keeping those “on the hush-hush. I like just having those come out. No one anticipates anything and it’s really cool when it just arrives, y’know?”
