EDM Casting, Jersey Shore For Producers, Or A Great Way To Promote New Producers?
Wow, we could definitely say our Twitter exploded with tweets about the so-called “Jersey Shore for producers”. EDM Casting is a new initiative for young producers. The producers will be followed trough the competition and they will be part of a real-life show. All you got to do is answer a list of questions about you as a producer and about yourself. Probably the intentions will be good, giving new producers a chance to stand up in the world of dance music, but is this the right way?
A lot of sceneleading dj’s immediately fell over the plan, as you can see under here:

@deadmau5 It occurred to me today that pop stars don’t produce their own music, don’t even write their own lyrics. The future of ‘EDM’?

Is EDM Casting as bad as they make us believe?
When you take a look at the front page of the website, you do get that Jersey Shore feeling. Pumping music, a cool guy telling you exactly what to do and some nice looks on the website. I find this a little bit inappropriate for promoting DJ’s, but still, is the plan as bad as sketched by the producers above? Or do we have to wait for it to launch? Well, at least we cannot really judge it, until the first show is launched. Till then, it might be the best to wait for the program to start. It might be a storm in a glass.
