Watching You features 2 great house tracks, and one electro house track each with unique takes on a song and varying levels of grooviness.
The original mix is very much classic house by heavily emphasizing the vocals and using that kick/high hat on the 1/3 and 2/4 respectively. A great track by any means as it’s energetic, and the vocals are reminiscent of a older style of house, but it doesn’t groove as hard as I like house tracks to and it feels a bit bland.
Marco Lys’ remix is absolutely outstanding and my favorite track of the release. It features a wah-ed out main line and much tighter drums. It grooves harder, it goes farther in terms of how he builds and breaks down the track, and it also has a much larger variety of sounds. The break is a bit jarring however with its synth stab, which is an almost alarming sound however I love the 70s style wah on the vocals and how he manipulates that sound.
Basoski’s remix is electro house undoubtably with its heavy, grinding bass but what is interesting is Basoski throws in his usual, disco-like sound intro the track. It feels like a combination of Felix Cartal and Basoski, and I have no problem with it. It carries a lot of energy and is an interesting take on an already great track.
