10997 EP is a four track release which names its songs after various shapes. The tracks are as follows: Square (deep house), Circle (tech house), Hexagon (tech house), and Ps Triangle (deep house). The album itself is incredibly creative and a definite must-have for any lover of dance music. Square and circle each have a strong pounding bass-line however it seems as if circle is more of a fast paced version of square. This however doesn’t detract at all from the experience as it is a useful tool for many DJs and they are varied enough that it still feels fresh. While square is dark and foreboding, circle is much more open. Hexagon is incredibly groovy with ambient loops over a thumping and energetic bass line while Ps Triangle is a deeper, yet a bit lighter track with its quiet ambient sound, drum shots, and powerful bass. A commonality I was able to notice between all the tracks is how well Dixon crafts his bass line. Its powerful and deep, yet strays away from the muddy sound that can sometimes happen. Wonderful album so grab it off Beatport.
