From Shivers To Jitters: Dressing For EDM This Winter
The old saying “pain is beauty,” or “beauty is pain” might mean some pinched toes or stretched earlobes, but it certainly doesn’t mean you have to get hypothermia this winter to look sexy and enjoy the hottest raves, even in the coolest weather. Below are some helpful tips for women’s rave clothes!
Keep Your Feet Happy: Bundle Up Those Tootsies
Keeping your feet happy is a cardinal rule of existing comfortably in cold weather, whether you’re headed to a rave or a ballroom gala. Open-toed shoes and even many types of pumps can often blind us into adornment with their cuteness, but wearers beware! Winter chills can not only make your entire body frigid, but they can wreak havoc on your skin and even have poor effects on circulation. To avoid the shivers and alligator feet without resorting to eskimo boots, grab a pair of boots with heels that still have enough room for heavy socks underneath.
Don’t Be Afraid of Layers
Layers are both cozy and sexy. They give an edgy look, and provide you with many different ways to show off your unique style, plus the added warmth is priceless. If you’re going to a rave that’s partially outside, then throw your favorite funky cardigan over your camisole, you can take it off or let it fall off your shoulder for some ventilation once you’re inside.
This isn’t limited to cardigans of course- throwing a stretchy tube-top over a camisole gives added warmth and a funky-chic look. Even pairing your favorite slinky top with a little man’s blazer, or throwing a vintage sweater vest over your ensemble can amp-up your women’s rave wear look to a very sexy, warm degree. Even swapping a necklace for a scarf can be a life saver if it’s a particularly windy night.
Leggings, Tights and Pants: More is More
Fun skirts and dresses are a ubiquitous part of most lady raver’s wardrobes, but they can get mighty bone chilling in the winter months. Foregoing a skirt or dress for breathable, flexible pants, or even adding leggings to your favorite skirt/dress ensemble can allow you to keep warm without losing any sexiness.
There are as many types and styles of tights and leggings as there are EDM fan sites nowadays, so the sky is the limit when it comes to boosting your style and warmth. Glitter, lace, fishnet, neon, woven, denim, and latex- there’s a style of legging out there for everyone- and they can be worn with your tutu for your special brand of funk, or on their own if you want to show off those sexy curves.
Check Out the Coat Situation
Giant parkas don’t generally evoke erotic, club-ready sentiments, but anyone with any sense knows the importance of wearing a coat in the wintertime. Before you go out for a night on the town, make sure you research the coat-check situation, and prepare to shell out a few extra bucks to keep your goose down poised and ready for you.
If the club or party venue doesn’t have a coat check, then see if there’s a banquet area where you can stash your coat while keeping an eye on it. If there’s no safe-coat-keeping to be found, then try bringing a lightweight, inexpensive throw instead, so you wont end up without a jacket at the end of the night.
