Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records Celebrates Its 100th Release
Who: Laidback Luke & Mixmash Records
What: 100th Release
Where: Amsterdam, Netherlands
With the release of DBN’s “Gotta Get Thru This” Mixmash Records marks its 100th release in succession after its start with the release of Laidback Luke’s Mixmash EP Volume One back in 2004.
Through the years Mixmash Records has showcased the talents of some of the biggest names in todays dance music. It was Avicii’s ‘Ryu’ that garnered him a first glimpse of the successes that he is now turning out by the dozen. And it was on Mixmash where he released his first ever compilation CD. It was Steve Angello’s and Laidback Luke’s own – Show Me Love that catapulted both old friends into a mainstream in a manner which at that time was unheard off for the dance music scene. That type of success was later emulated by Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki’s (feat Lil John) – Turbulence but also applied to the cases of Afrojack, Sandro Silva, Hardwell, Anger Dimas, Dyro and Swanky Tunes. It was Mixmash Records that played an intricate part in the shaping of their early careers.
So much has Mixmash become known for setting the trend musically that the scene as a whole looks towards the label to identify key artists and releases. An aspect that has attracted more established artists to earn this ultimate stamp of coolness. Cue releases, remixes and features from the likes of Diplo, Tiesto, A Trak, Sander van Doorn, Martin Solveig, Chuckie, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and more. But naturally at the core Mixmash will always embrace the ‘new kids’, some of which will be especially highlighted as part of the “Ones to Watch” – series – for the near future expect releases from Tom Staar, Moska, Koele Vaten, Mickey Fortune, Saintz Liz and Uberjakd. You heard it here first!
This all to the credit of course of one man – Laidback Luke – and his team. The visionary that Luke is, always wanted to create a platform for artists still finding their way to success and lend them a hand. It is what Luke has become known for – spotting and guiding undiscovered talent and without regard for selfishness or ego help them along. And so he did, with Mixmash Records, his (in)famous Super You&Me events and the publishing subsidiary Next Era that gives a new dimension to the next generation of dance artists to undoubtedly break through in the scene. Watch out for more from Sandro Silva, GTA, Revero, Sven Kirchhof, Nicolas Strands and many many more.
For the near future you may expect even more focus and push on the releases of the sounds that are yet to come.
It is with special pride and gratitude that Laidback Luke and the whole Mixmash team would like to thank all its fans for their continued support over the years.
