Dahlback’s New Release Panic Is Out!
Who: John Dahlback
What: Panic
Where: Sweden
Panic is an incredible release. I may be biased because I think John Dahlback is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but his new release combines progressive builds and really grimy electro house drops absolutely perfectly. If you like Dahlback’s more melodic productions but wished they dropped harder, this is the release for you.
Panic starts off tense with a very foreboding, and dark build. As it increases in density, the track drops into a really heavy electro house grimy bass line that is one of my favorite of its kind. Then, as if the drop wasn’t enough with its inclusion of the dubstep whomps, Dahlback breaks into one of his famed synth-heavy progressive builds. It does not disappoint too and is at full Dahlback quality. Great track, one of my favorite this month.
What’s Up Now starts out a bit quieter with merely a drum beat and some claps/minor percussion in the background. It builds with a light, however continuously layering synth that increases in intensity as time goes on. The drop however is where the track shines as he throws in another electro house explosion, yet this time including rave undertones. The tone of the synth is absolutely unequaled in not only how clear it sounds, but also how incredibly intense it makes the song. Layering many effects, Dahlback has crafted another masterpiece.
In the end, while both tracks are in fact similar, they each have very important qualities that make each one stand out next to the other. Give it a listen and you won’t be disappointed.
