Quick ADE 1 On 1’s With Boddhi Satva, Culoe De Song, Atjazz, Mark Knight & ATFC
Beyond the mystique of Amsterdam’s infamous Red Light District and Coffee Shops lies a city who’s love and commitment for house music is second to none.
The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is evidence of one simple fact, Amsterdam Loves House Music! Each year in October, the ADE draws thousands of Elite House Music Leaders and Clubbers from all over the globe to its city center to network and party together.
2012 is no exception, this year Traxsource caught up with the Who’s Who of House to find out just what makes ADE tick and why the city of Amsterdam is so special…
BODDHI SATVA
1. Are you having your own party or DJing this year for ADE?
Unfortunately this year we decided to not do any events as we are focused on other occupations for the label, plus i will be doing a USA & Canada Tour to promote “Invocation” my debut album on BBE/Vega Records. However we’ll definitely have a sampler out.
2. What makes ADE different from other conferences?
It’s definitely the place to meet the who’s who and important business people of the industry. I feel that the ADE staff is really doing massive efforts to make sure it is a solid place for getting business done. That makes it different and very interesting.
3. What is something you must do whilst in Amsterdam?
I just love being in Amsterdam. It’s a city that i found very very active and so cosmopolitan, i never have enough time to visit everything I’d like to, but it’s a place where i found a lot of inspiration.
4. Do you get a lot of business done at ADE?
I haven’t yet to be quiet honest. But hopefully next year we will be making that happen.
5. What tracks will be big this year at ADE?
In my Books, Dj Dorivaldo – Tchamayka (Original Mix), Anane – Walking On Thin Ice (Louie Vega Remix), No Dial Tone feat. Djamila – About You (Original Mix), Ry / Frank Wiedemann – Howling (Original Mix)
CULOE DE SONG
1. Are you having your own party or DJing this year for ADE?
No, I’m not having my own party at ADE but I’ll be playing at the DJOON Experience with the likes of Manoo, Black Coffee, Rocco and so on.
2. What makes ADE different from other conferences?
ADE is unique in an angle or two. ADE strikes me as an event where the world electronic & dance scene meets in its Indie & major label forms, bringing the international scene as a whole together. It appeals greatly to connoisseurs of the different scenes & is vibrant in cultural exchange! It’s more than just about fun!
3. What is something you must do whilst in Amsterdam?
When you’re in Amsterdam, you gotta walk around the capital that is above water. It’s a great experience, seeing the old buildings in their tilted angles and the whole plan of the city. Epic!
4. Do you get a lot of business done at ADE?
Well I get to present our scene at the shows we play at around ADE & that secures some invites from the different nationals that are interested in my music & my scene in general I suppose.
5. What tracks will be big this year at ADE?
I think in terms of Deep/Soulful House music (per say), Ralf Gum feat. Monique Bingham “Take Me To My Love” is gonna be huge!!!
ATJAZZZ
1. Are you having your own party or DJing this year for ADE?
Yes, along side Hollanders ‘Subtone’, who are good friends and put on very tight events, We’re hosting our party on 19.10 at the amazing Supperclub with myself, Karizma, Si Tew (Live), Rafael from Nomumbah, Brothers In Harmony & Kyri from R2 Records, It’s gunna be very warm in there with that lot keeping it deep!
2. What makes ADE different from other conferences?
For me, it’s the overall city vibe, everyone knows it’s going on, there’s an amazing buzz in the city and the city itself is behind the conference. It’s a good chance for people to come euro side and check out the nightlife too. It’s also 50 minutes flight time for me, that’s a bonus!
3. What is something you must do whilst in Amsterdam?
Eat Dim Sum, some of the best I’ve ever had, Red Light District Chinese food is a must! also ya’ll must drink some Heineken! ;)
4. Do you get a lot of business done at ADE?
I Meet with a lot of people I’m already working with or have worked with, it’s a smallish business meeting for me, I really like to see the performances more than twiddle iPhones but I always end up coming out of there with something new to get my teeth into. So many people in a small place, it’s just amazing.
5. What tracks will be big this year at ADE?
I think everyone is on my remix of ‘Rain’ but I feel there will be a lot of new music this year, I generally chop it up when I play, and with myself and Karizma on the turntables I can’t imagine there will be any 10 minute buildups, there really needs to be some new sounds for me this year as I have a short attention span and need fresh ear food. I’m looking forwards to checking some new DJ’s as well as the golden oldies.

My own track “Out Of My Head” looks set to be a biggie, also we have signed the classic CLOUD9 (Victor Simonelli) “Do You Want Me Baby” with a remix from men of the moment DUSKY…This is large trust me!!!
ATFC
1. Are you having your own party or DJing this year for ADE?
I’m playing for 1 Management for their Network Night at Club NL alongside Prok & Fitch, Funkerman, Rene Amesz, Saeed Younan, Filthy Rich and more.
2. What makes ADE different from other conferences?
It’s very much more centralized and focused on business. The weather is much worse which means a lot more gets done!
3. What is something you must do whilst in Amsterdam?
Rent a bike
4. Do you get a lot of business done at ADE?
Yes, if there’s one conference to go to for business it’s this one
5. What tracks will be big this year at ADE?
I’m not sure there are ‘big’ tracks at any conference any more, especially at ADE. The music is much more diverse, and that’s the good thing. You hear a really wide selection of tunes and not the same stuff all the time.
