Erick Morillo & Konshens’ New Release Murder The Dancefloor Out Now
Who: Erick Morillo, Konshens
What: Erick Morillo, Konshens – Murder The Dancefloor (Acid Mix) + (Tribal Mix)
Where: Columbia/Jamaica
Murder The Dancefloor includes two quite varied mixes however both shine in their own right. While both tracks are technically progressive, they are fusions of both tribal house and acid house.
In the beginning, the tribal mix has a really groovy, driving beat that makes the track energetic and fun to listen to. However, it doesn’t seem to go far from there as the song evolves into a progressive song of a standard nature. At any point other than the intro, the beat seems de-emphasized and is hidden underneath the progressive fare we have seen so many times in tracks recently. In the end, the track doesn’t sound tribal enough which makes it a bit unsatisfying. It still is a well produced track, but is definitely the weaker of the two.
The acid mix is where the release really shines in that while it sounds like a standard rave tune, the way Erick Morillo and Konshens lay the beat underneath the grinding synth makes the track rhythmically satisfying. The beat accents the melody perfectly and is emphasized much more in this song leading to a far more epic sounding drop, more energy in general coming from the track, and a much more intense experience over all. While the melodies seem very static in both, it really ends up being the beat that makes the song which is why the acid mix is superior.
